DAVID Y. ZHANG, MD, PHD, MPH

David Y. Zhang MD, PhD, MPH is a licensed physician specializing in Pathology and Occupational Medicine. Dr. Zhang was a Professor and Director, Molecular Pathology at the Departments of Pathology and Oncological Sciences at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai until 2017. He is currently an adjunct Professor at the Department of Pathology, Icahn School of Medicine, a Visiting Professor at Downstate Medical Center, SUNY and a Consulting Pathologist at The Department of Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System. He obtained his MD from Norm Bethune School of Medicine of Jilin University, PhD from New York University School of Medicine, and MPH from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as fellowship training in Cytopathology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He also completed a residency training program in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the I. J. Selikoff Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Department of Preventive Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Cytopathology, Molecular Genetic Pathology by the American Boards of Pathology and Medical Genetics as well as Occupational Medicine by American Board of Preventive Medicine. He has conducted extensive basic and clinical research on various cancers, including malignant mesothelioma, lung cancers, bladder cancer and prostate cancer, which were funded by Federal agencies, including the National Institutes of Health. He published more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts, chapters and books. He holds more than 10 US and international patents on biotechnology and AI related to disease diagnosis, including cancer diagnosis. His current research focuses on the development of a stat of art digital pathology platform and AI applications for prostate cancer diagnosis, prognosis and prediction.

Dr. Zhang currently practices both pathology and occupational medicine. Dr. Zhang is the Medical Director, Rendr Laboratory, RendrCare, New York (www.rendrcare.com). He is also the Medical Director at Western and Eastern Medical PC, New York, a private occupational medicine practice. Dr. Zhang is involved in several medical organizations. He currently serves as Executive Vice President of Operations, Chinese Community Accountable Care Organization (CCACO). At these capacities, he is involved in the populational health management and credentialing of its members. He is also involved in SOMOS activities and served as liaison between Chinese community and SOMOS organization.
